How Do I know my hat size?
To determine your hat size, you’ll need to measure your head circumference. To do this, you’ll need a tape measure. You’ll need the type of tape measure used in sewing, which is flexible.
Wrap the measuring tape around your head, bringing the ends together right above your eyebrows, 2 fingers above your eyebrows to be exact. This is your head circumference.
Small =21 1/8 to 21 1/2 inches
Medium= 21 7/8 to 22 1/4 inches
Large = 22 5/8 to 23 inches
X Large = 23 1/2 to 23 7/8 inches
In addition we make it as seamless and easy as possible. All of our hats have an inner drawstring that adjusts the fit of your hat. We also include hat spacers in each order for that extra snug fit. When you shop in person we will measure your head to determine your hat size.
How and Where, do I store my Hat ?
Your first choice should be a sturdy hat box. 1-If you're stacking multiple hats in one box, always stack the heavier hats on the bottom. 2-Hang it on a hook or store in your closet shelf (crown down and use your tote bag to keep the dust out. 3-Keep it away from the window of your car. Sunlight and extreme heat or moisture can alter the shape, color and size of your hat.
I sat on my hat ... What do I do?
Felt and Wool are materials that retain the memory of its original shape. Teaming your hat is the easiest solution. Hold the hat over steam from a kettle, fabric steamer, or the steam option from your iron. With your fingers punch out dents and slowly reshape your hat. The crown and brim should come back to its original form. If you have a hat that needs a lot of work, bring it in or ship it to us and we can quote you on restoration.
How can I remove a bad smell from my hat?
- The funky odor is caused by sweat and bacteria built up in the material or interior band of your hat.
1.-We have an in house service to remove odor from hats.
2.-We also offer our deodorizing hat mists that come in 5 unique scents (link below).
3.-A DIY option is to first grab your hat and put in the freezer for at least 48-72 hours. You can then spray our hat mist and repeat the process.
If you are still experiencing odor issues with your hat you can reach out to us at info@houseofhatters.com and we can further assist you.
How do I travel with my Hat?
The best way to travel with your hat is to purchase a hat box or wear it on your head. If that isn’t possible, you need to pack your hat in the suitcase. Before you start, the hat should be the first thing in your empty suitcase. Place your hat upside down (crown first) in the center of your suitcase. Start by creating a nest inside your suitcase using clean T-shirts and socks to fit around the crown creating a comfortable mold for your hat. Take a couple of soft items and stuff them inside your hat until its flush across the top. To finish off, fold additional clothing and pack on top of your hat. Once you arrive, unpack and your hat should be intact.
