Story: In the fall of 1970, Emmett Ray stepped off a Greyhound in Tombstone with a duffel, a photo, and a quiet purpose. At Russell's Roadrunner Store, he bought a high-end brown Resistol hat made for a serious rider. “That’s not a tourist’s hat,” Russell warned. “It’s not a tourist’s trip,” Emmett replied. He rode east toward the ghost town of Gleeson on a borrowed horse, visiting an old grave. A week later, the horse returned alone. Emmett was gone–but the hat sat neatly on a fence post. Some say the desert took him. Others say he’s still riding. But folks swear, when the sun dips low, you can spot a man in a sharp brown hat just beyond the dust.
